Even though the car market has gone global, models are still explicitly made for specific areas. One such vehicle is the Toyota Fortuner, a body-on-frame SUV that is incredibly capable and primarily made for Australian and Asian roads. Currently, sources have validated the company's project for the next generation, the 2024 Toyota Fortuner, which is expected to replace the current model that debuted in 2015.

When will the sixth-generation Toyota 4Runner arrive?

Have you considered the release date of the much-awaited sixth-generation Toyota 4Runner? Toyota has been working hard to update its range of off-road trucks and SUVs; the all-new 2022 Tundra and 2023 Sequoia are the first two examples of this effort. The 4Runner will get a significant redesign next. Toyota still needs to disclose the official launch date, though.

It's still being determined when the new 4Runner will go on sale, despite Toyota having revealed improvements for the 2023 model year. The earliest likely year would be 2023 for a car model year 2024. However, if rumors about Toyota's planning to introduce a new Land Cruiser based on the Land Cruiser Prado are true, the 4Runner redesign may not be released until 2024, making it a 2025 model-year car.

Will the new 4Runner still be built in Japan?

Toyota is taking a big step forward by switching to the TNGA-F vehicle platform for its body-on-frame trucks and SUVs. A new generation of cars, such as the Lexus LX 600, the Sequoia, the Tundra, and the J300 Land Cruiser, are built on this ground-breaking platform. Additionally, Toyota is considering building the next Tacoma pickup and the 4Runner on a scaled-down version of the TNGA-F platform.

Like the Land Cruiser, the 4Runner has traditionally been produced in Japan. However, Toyota is considering moving part or all of the 4Runner manufacture to North America now that the new standard platform is in place.

Toyota is cutting costs, improving vehicle quality, and optimizing its production process using the TNGA-F platform. Furthermore, thanks to this calculated approach, Toyota will stay competitive in the global market and adjust to the quickly changing automotive landscape.

Will the new 4Runner have a four-cylinder engine?

It appears very likely. Toyota has been shrinking the size of the engines in all of its SUVs and trucks. V6 cars are replacing even V8 models. Consequently, it makes sense that the 4Runner, which currently sports a 4.0-liter V6, would eventually switch to four-cylinder engines.

The turbocharged 2.4-liter inline-four engine from the brand-new Lexus NX 350 is the front-runner for the base powerplant. With an astounding 275 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque, this engine is far more torque-producing than the existing V6.

Will the new Toyota 4Runner get a hybrid engine?

Toyota will have hybrid options for all its models by 2025. It is likely that the next 4Runner will have a hybrid version.

Toyota should consider the 2.4-liter Hybrid Max powertrain, already present in the Crown model, for a performance-focused upgrade. With 400 lb-ft of torque and 340 horsepower, this engine is rather powerful. With such an improvement, the 4Runner could take on more luxurious models of well-known SUVs, such as the Ford Bronco and Jeep Wrangler.

Will the next 4Runner get an updated interior?

Very likely. The redesigned interior of the Tundra, which is seen below, was a significant upgrade over the previous model. The 4Runner may come with a 14-inch touchscreen and Toyota's latest infotainment system from the Lexus NX as an option.

Toyota doesn't usually aim to wow customers with the quality of its interior materials. Still, expect significant improvements to help stave off competitors.

Will the Toyota 4Runner get an electric version?

We wouldn't place a wager on a 4Runner EV happening anytime soon. In 2021, Toyota unveiled its EV roadmap. Toyota reevaluated that roadmap in response to reports from autumn 2022.

A concept that resembles an electric Tacoma has been shown to us. However, we have yet to find anything resembling an electric 4Runner anywhere.

Eventually, a 4Runner EV should show up. However, that would likely be a seventh-generation model in the future.
