2018-Later Jeep Wrangler JL JLU

Jeep fans may rejoice with the introduction of the all-new Jeep Wrangler JL following years of unprecedented success with the Wrangler JK.

Over a year ago, the venerable compact SUV's fourth iteration was unveiled at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show. This new model is "the most-capable SUV currently on the market," according to Jeep CEO Mike Manley.

It isn't easy to evaluate the modifications made to the new JL over the old JK based on initial impressions. For your convenience, we've listed the distinctions between the two Wrangler generations so you can choose wisely the next time you're shopping.

JEEP WRANGLER INTERIOR DESIGN

The absence of interior features in the Wrangler has disappointed enthusiasts as the market for automotive technology grows. After taking notice, Jeep made careful to invert its basic strategy to the place where most Wrangler owners spend their time.

The interior of the Jeep Wrangler features an infotainment center with a vast screen that uses the newest UConnect technology. A nine-speaker audio system with a robust subwoofer is one of Jeep's many storage options for Wrangler customers. Numerous revised switches, knobs, and buttons on the instrument panel feel and look as sturdy as they do.

Despite being frequently disregarded, steering wheels are essential to any driver's experience when operating a vehicle. As a result, they must change often to satisfy the demands of today's Jeep enthusiasts. Nowadays, drivers may have everything they need—from music to cruise control—right at their fingertips with the Wrangler.

The interior storage capacity of the Jeep Wrangler has been expanded to accommodate a significantly more significant amount of cargo. The incredible options a few extra square feet could bring for their next adventure will undoubtedly benefit adventurers. Cup holders, screen holders, and storage cubbies are rubberized Jeep Wrangler integrated storage components that make cleaning your car a breeze and protect it from dirt and debris.

JEEP WRANGLER EXTERIOR DESIGN

The LED running lights and turn signals integrated into the front fenders of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL are among my favorite features. These give the vehicle's frame a stylish new design feature and improve visibility during the day and at night. Air circulation is improved, and road noise is reduced via vents behind the front bumper.

The JL differs from the JK even more with its slightly sleeker, more contemporary grill design. Although most people would not notice the tiny difference right away, it will become more apparent when enthusiasts start to get their hands on the next generation of Wranglers. Jeep made sure to maintain the popular body style that has enabled the US automaker to shatter records on an annual basis.

The Jeep also has a significantly stronger steel structure and recently added aluminum body panels, which enable the Wrangler to maintain its well-known heavy-duty frame while minimizing excess weight.

The latest Wrangler off-road vehicles come equipped with a new rear-view camera, a feature enthusiasts will undoubtedly find impressive. Some of the safety concerns that the mainstream media highlighted when evaluating the earlier JK models will also be resolved by the blind spot tracking system housed inside the taillight.

The lightweight magnesium composition of the new JL's rear swing gate material has undergone a slight alteration. This makes it easy for adventurers to enter and exit our Jeep Wrangler integrated storage. Please remove all your emergency supplies and store them in the back.

JEEP WRANGLER PERFORMANCE

There is more storage room in the Jeep Wrangler than in the JK model from the previous year, and the JL is also one of the most potent small SUVs available. The more recent Wrangler does not forgo a vital engine in favor of an opulent cabin. The 2018 might perform better in both on- and off-road scenarios than its predecessors.

Jeep is now offering the 2.0L Turbocharged I4, 3.0L EcoDiesel V6, and 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine options for the Wrangler for the first time.

For a good reason, Pentastar engines are frequently recommended by mechanics with experience with the Jeep model line to engineers engaged in the design process.

Since its launch in 2012, the Pentastar V6 has been a feature of the Jeep Wrangler JK. With 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque, it is evident that Jeep has made the required improvements to produce an engine far and away superior to its earlier models. In addition to transmission shift management and energy-saving stop/start technology, this robust workhorse has hundreds of other extra features that make it incredibly useful and sustainable. Even though the Pentastar will have some competition this time, many enthusiasts will remain devoted to the device because of its additional features.

November of last year saw Jeep unveil their two all-new engines at the LA Auto Show. A new, sophisticated battery charging system and a turbocharged four-cylinder engine with electric power assistance are features of the 2.0-liter Turbocharged I4. With its standard engine stop-start technology, this option offers the highest performance and efficiency, producing 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque.

Last but not least, for those wishing to give their cars some serious power, the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 engine will undoubtedly be popular. Like the previous two options, the EcoDiesel will include an eight-speed automatic gearbox and engine stop-start capability as standard equipment to handle its enormous torque, rated at about 450 foot pounds of force.

Shortly, Jeep plans to test-drive a fully plug-in electric Wrangler as well.

JEEP WRANGLER STORAGE

For enthusiasts, a significant problem has been the need for integrated storage space in several Jeep Wrangler variants from previous years. It might be challenging to find an excellent place to store your personal items and adventure gear when traveling the world, according to travelers and enthusiasts.

How much more room did the new JL Jeep Wrangler storage get?

The short answer is a little.

The Wrangler JL Unlimited measured roughly 31.7 cubic feet with the rear seats up. The car's trunk area increased to 72.4 cubic feet when the seats were folded, almost doubling it.

Jeep could only fit roughly 1.8 cubic feet of additional space with the seats folded down, less than prior JL models. Of course, most people will notice little of a change in this, but seeing the company actively working to address this concern for travelers is encouraging.

There are many third-party options available to assist you in making the most of the rear cargo compartment of your Jeep Wrangler while Jeep works out how to optimize its storage capacity.

The upcoming model will offer you a welcome surprise if you hope to give your Jeep more power and possibly a more significant workload.

As they become more popular among Wranglers, the JL model will be one to watch out for thanks to its unique exterior and interior styling and new engine options that promise performance never before seen in the Jeep lineup.

The new JL maintains the aggressive appearance and feel that have made Jeep a household name in the industry while being lightweight and svelte.
